We Were Looking To Hire a Pressure Washing Company

We needed a good pressure washing guy for our dirty house in Granger so we ask around about who would be reliable enough to do a good job and who would be timely. A lot of the people in the Granger area have lived here longer than us so they knew the good contractors from the bad. A good pressure washing Granger contractor could just do a good job by calling people back and by actually showing up.

I guess they get a lot of fly by night companies around here just trying to make a quick buck but have no idea about how to run a legitimate business. I wrote down a few names of some Granger pressure washing companies but one name everyone had mentioned seemed to do excellent work. I gave that pressure washing Granger company a call and they came out the next day to five me a free estimate.

They seemed fair and knowledgeable so we hire them on the spot. The following week our home was washed from top to bottom and it looked fantastic. They did a wonderful job pressure washing our new Granger home. It really is a good idea to ask around before hire anyone because otherwise we would have never known. Word of mouth is good for the companies and for the home owners both.

How Pressure Washing Services Can Help

Pressure washing services are becoming more and more popular with homeowner who understand the importance of home maintenance. Neglecting the exterior of your home can lower the curb appeal and value of the home, and in today’s market that isn’t acceptable.

There are many pressure washing services available to homeowners today all across the country. The home and many surfaces around the home can be cleaned and maintained to look fresh and new again. Some of the pressure washing services include deck and fence cleaning and sealing, concrete cleaning and sealing, whole house washing, gutter cleaning, low pressure roof cleaning, and window cleaning service.

With so many pressure washing services to choose from, homeowners have no excuse to not stay on top of their home maintenance. The effects of neglecting your home’s exterior can be detrimental to the value of your home and your pocket book.

Contaminants like dirt, grime, mold, mildew, and algae can break down the building materials that make up your home. Neglect can lessen the longevity of wooden decks, concrete, and asphalt shingles. Mold and mildew can enter the home through open windows and vented soffit areas. Mold can cause some serious health issues if not taken care of. A pressure washing service can help.

Deck Cleaning Before The Summer Holidays

Spring is in the air, flowers are blooming, and the kids are playing outside again. You’ve probably pulled out the barbecue grill on your deck for some evening grilling. But when looking at your deck, it looks like a bomb hit it.

In Missouri deck cleaning is just as common as taking your car to the carwash. Most decks over a period of time begin to get mold and mildew on them, causing them to need a through cleaning. This should be done with low pressure (between eight hundred to one thousand psi) to avoid damage to the wood.

Deck cleaning should also be done with the right cleaning products. Sodium hypochlorite with some household soap makes a great cleaner for removing mold and mildew on decks.

In St. Louis deck staining is a great way to protect the wood from rot and decay. Many decks need to be prepped the correct way when getting ready to stain. If using the same deck stain, a good cleaning and reapplication is okay to do. However, if you switch stains it is best to remove the old stain by stripping the deck, rejuvenating the wood with a proper detergent, and then begin deck staining with a good quality oil based deck stain.

Cheap Vinyl Windows

Ok, it’s an odd title but it is true, cheap window frames will bow causing a “smile”. Most cheap vinyl windows frames have only one or two chambers in their frame which sags after a few years. In extreme cases the frame can actually separate from the glass letting rain and cold air in.

When the glass separates from the frame it is at risk of falling out or breaking. These window smiles will also prevent the weather stripping from coming in contact with the frame. Do you want cheap windows that smile at you while letting cold air into your home?

The solution is multi chambered UPVC replacement windows. Multi chambered windows will not sag so the smiles are never an issue. Most High end replacement windows will have a support in center of the window sashes that assist in keeping the smiles away. Beware of companies that use metal supports because metal attracts cold air and will hurt the efficiency ratings of your windows. Park Avenue windows use a “power bar”, basically a fiberglass reinforcement bar that combats these problems.

When you start your search for vinyl replacement windows make sure to inspect the windows and make sure they have several chambers and a “power bar”. Happy window shopping, and watch out for the smiling windows!

What Separates Cleaning Contractors

A cleaning contractor specializes in exterior cleaning and sealing. Owning a pressure washer does not make one a cleaning contractor any more than a person that owns a hammer and table saw can automatically be called a carpenter. The pressure washer is a single tool in the arsenal of a pressure washing company.

Because every surface requires unique cleaners and technique, cleaning contractors must be equipped with tools like surface cleaners, various orifice nozzles and have a host of experience to determine the proper course of cleaning without causing damage. Specialty cleaning and restoration can require the use of dangerous acids and highly caustic chemicals. A company truly dedicated to cleaning exterior surfaces will carry a large amount of liability insurance and be trained in OSHA safety techniques. There is absolutely a difference between serious, full time cleaning companies and the handyman that uses a pressure washer.

Cleaning Wood Decks

Deck cleaning and sealing maintenance are very popular services among home owners whom know how important it can be to the life of their deck. With cleaning and sealing the biggest factor in doing the job properly is choosing the right cleaners and sealers.

Preparing the wood properly is just as important as the quality of sealer that will be used. The number one reason deck sealers fails is because the wood was not prepared properly, it doesn’t matter if the sealer being used is very expensive if the wood is not prepped properly the sealer will fail prematurely.

Another fact to note is that wood is actually very soft and can be severely damaged and scared from a high pressure washer. It is best to practice washing on a scrap piece of the same kind of wood your deck was built with. If you don’t have a scrap piece of wood, practice on an inconspicuous spot on your deck that is more or less hidden from view.

If you are not experienced with operating a power washer or if you don’t have experience with staining wood, you may not want to tackle a deck restoration project yourself. The best solution is to hire a professional wood deck cleaning contractor to do the job for you.
